Refinery Improves Data Reliability and Traceability for Quality Certification

KBC A Yokogawa Company helped a large European refines crude oil operator that processes crude for multiple owners and must maintain separate, traceable accounting across the full refining chain, from crude receipt to tankage and product shipment. The operator was already using Visual MESA Production Accounting, but one owner also needed the crude recipe behind each batch of asphalt bitumen, which required complex, manual calculations and created a heavy administrative burden.

KBC A Yokogawa Company adapted the existing Visual MESA Production Accounting model to automate the bitumen recipe and inventory calculations, and to deliver daily inventory data through a web service into the owner’s remote systems. This eliminated manual labor, improved traceability, and increased reliability and precision in the accounting process, helping the operator support ISO-9001 and Marcado CE certification efforts.
