Dredging Corporation of India centralizes surveillance across 8 vessels and 144 cameras with Katomaran Technology And Business Solutions

Katomaran Technology And Business Solutions implemented an integrated Video Management System (VMS), Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS), and AI Video Analytics solution for the Dredging Corporation of India (DCI). The customer faced the challenge of monitoring its eight remote dredging vessels from a central command centre, which was complicated by limited VSAT connectivity. They required a system that provided fleet-wide surveillance without overloading the network with continuous raw video transmission.

The solution deployed by Katomaran Technologies used a master-worker VMS architecture, installing 18 cameras and a local VMS server on each vessel to handle video management and AI analytics processing onboard. This distributed approach efficiently used the available bandwidth by transmitting only relevant events and information to the master VMS at the Vizag command centre. The results enabled centralized monitoring of all 144 cameras across the fleet, provided AI-powered person, intrusion, and vehicle detection, and established a scalable foundation for future vessel expansion.
