Case Study: The Wharf achieves smarter, cloud-managed security and faster investigations with Kastle Systems

A Kastle Systems Case Study

Kastle's Cloud-Based Video Surveillance System Secures The Wharf

The Wharf, a mile‑long mixed‑use waterfront development in Washington, D.C., needed a powerful but unobtrusive security solution that could protect large crowds (50,000–75,000 at major events and nearly 12 million visitors overall) while accommodating unknown future tenants and minimizing on‑site infrastructure. Kastle Systems was selected to meet these challenges, bringing its cloud‑managed video solution, Kastle CloudVMS, and AI‑driven analytics to provide unified yet separable access across common areas and tenant properties.

Kastle Systems deployed a configurable video wall, compact 4‑megapixel day/night cameras (220 cameras across the site), and cloud‑managed analytics that trigger alerts and speed investigations. The result: officers can patrol instead of constantly monitoring feeds, most events are handled by a single officer using event triggers, investigations run in a fraction of the time with searchable video evidence, and system health is proactively monitored. According to The Wharf’s security team, the Kastle CloudVMS has contributed to improved response and safety — including no violent incidents reported — while keeping the on‑site footprint minimal and maintenance cost‑effective.
