Case Study: Tatneft reduces cyber risk to industrial control systems with Kaspersky Lab

A Kaspersky Lab Case Study

Preview of the Tatneft Case Study

Tackling Cyber Security To Build A Global Energy Business

Tatneft, one of Russia’s largest energy companies with operations across more than 80 fields and businesses from extraction to refining and retail, faced growing industrial cyber risks as it automated critical technological processes. To strengthen its defenses and meet regulatory requirements for critical infrastructure, Tatneft engaged Kaspersky Lab and took part in Kaspersky Industrial Cybersecurity / Advanced Training (Industrial Security training) to raise awareness of attack scenarios and train managers responsible for automated command-and-control systems.

Kaspersky Lab delivered hands-on Industrial Cybersecurity training based on real-world incident investigations, demonstrating likely attack vectors and mitigation measures. The work reduced Tatneft’s exposure to cyber attacks on automated industrial systems, boosted managerial awareness (noting that up to 80% of industrial incidents stem from human error), and prompted plans to expand training to engineers and deploy specialized cyber protection — making Kaspersky Lab a trusted partner in Tatneft’s industrial security strategy.
