Monclick Eliminates The Threat Of DDoS Attacks

Monclick, an Italian e‑commerce site established in 2005 (part of Project Informatica) with about 45 employees, a catalog of 65,000 SKUs and roughly 1 million visitors per month, was hit by a series of escalating DDoS attacks in April 2016 that threatened site availability and business continuity. After initial mitigations and a ransom demand, Monclick turned to Kaspersky Lab and its Kaspersky DDoS Protection (KDP) service to stop the outages and restore normal operation.

Kaspersky Lab deployed KDP the same day—routing traffic through scrubbing centers using GRE tunnels and BGP redirection—via its Emergency Response Team within hours, eliminating malicious traffic and keeping Monclick’s site online with only minor performance tuning issues. The attacks were neutralized, Monclick maintained availability for its 1M monthly visitors, and the retailer signed a formal protection agreement with Kaspersky Lab the following week, preserving sales and search‑engine standing.
