Case Study: Revain achieves protection against front-running attacks and secures digital assets with Kaspersky Lab's Smart Contract Audit

A Kaspersky Lab Case Study

How a front-running attack didn't happen

Revain, a blockchain-based review platform, set out in 2019 to upgrade its system with smart-contract features that would allow freezing or reversing transfers in the event of hacks—addressing the limitation of Ethereum’s immutable contracts. To validate the security of their three-contract architecture and reduce the risk of vulnerabilities like front-running, Revain engaged Kaspersky Lab and used the Kaspersky Smart Contract Audit service.

Kaspersky Lab’s audit identified seven issues, including a critical front-running vulnerability tied to a 55-line function and the 15-second window for transaction mining; the team provided clear documentation and remediation guidance. After Revain fixed access-rights nuances and implemented Kaspersky’s recommendations, a second review returned “no issues found,” effectively preventing a potential asset-draining front-running attack and resulting in Revain passing the Kaspersky Smart Contract Audit.
