A Kaspersky Lab Case Study
Banco Pichincha, one of Ecuador’s largest banks with 3.1 million customers and 297 branches, was facing rising phishing, malware and account‑takeover attacks that were damaging confidence in online banking. To protect its customers and restore trust, the bank selected Kaspersky Lab and its Kaspersky Fraud Prevention platform (implemented via partner GMS) to add an endpoint‑level layer of defence for online and mobile banking.
Kaspersky Lab’s solution — deployed on PCs, laptops and via a mobile banking app — provided centralized endpoint management plus anti‑malware, SMS interception blocking and screen‑capture detection. More than 180,000 customers downloaded the protection, and the bank found that none of the post‑implementation security breaches involved protected users; Banco Pichincha reports improved customer trust, reputation and reduced risk of costly losses.
