University of Kentucky Uses Kaseya to Align IT Services to Organization’s Goals

The University of Kentucky’s Research Information Services (RIS) team faced a common higher-education IT problem: supporting hundreds of servers and endpoints scattered across 45 campus locations with limited staff and shrinking budgets. Their “sneakernet” approach—walking to machines for updates and fixes—created poor visibility, slow helpdesk response, duplicate work, and compliance challenges for systems behind hospital firewalls.

RIS deployed the Kaseya IT Automation Framework to consolidate monitoring, patching, helpdesk, backup and automation on a single web-based dashboard. The agent-based solution enabled secure remote control across firewalls, automated repetitive tasks, and centralized auditing and license tracking. As a result RIS now manages 350+ systems, increased remote resolution from 20% to 80%, speeds ticket resolution to minutes, saved thousands on hardware and avoided software-audit fines, and aligned IT operations with ITIL best practices.
