Automation, IT Efficiency Key VSA Benefits for University of Kentucky Research

The University of Kentucky’s Research Information Services (RIS) supports computing for the Office of Research, managing 400+ desktops and 27 servers spread across 45 campus locations. Facing tight budgets, distributed users (including systems behind the medical center firewall), in-house applications and a legacy “sneaker net” approach, RIS needed better remote access, standardized change management and SLA tracking, and lower IT costs.

RIS deployed Kaseya VSA (upgrading to VSA 9.4) to consolidate five tools into one, automate patching and policy-based setups, and use the Service Desk and Live Connect for remote control and reporting. The result was faster issue resolution, improved SLA monitoring, fewer setup errors, reduced technician workload and training time, and measurable time and cost savings while improving end-user experience and compliance.
