Truck OEM uncovers tens of critical vulnerabilities with Karamba Security

A truck OEM faced the challenge of securing both its legacy and new devices, as well as supplier components, without compromising its development and production schedules or affecting time to market. The customer needed a solution to check pre-production components for risks in alignment with ISO/SAE 21434 and sought to improve its overall security posture, especially for supplier code where only binary images were available. They turned to Karamba Security and its VCode product for a solution.

Karamba Security implemented VCode, a binary scanning tool chosen for its strong scan engine, ease of integration into CI/CD pipelines, and ability to generate comprehensive SBOM and compliance reports. The solution enabled the OEM to discover and mitigate tens of critical vulnerabilities and weaknesses without needing to expand its cybersecurity teams. Subsequent penetration testing indicated a measurable improvement in the vehicle’s overall cybersecurity posture, allowing the OEM to set a new benchmark for security and compliance.
