Case Study: Aptiv reduces inventory and streamlines production with KanbanBOX

The case of the world's largest manufacturer of electronic interconnection systems for the automotive market

Aptiv, a global automotive component and mobility technology company, needed to move from a push-based model and manual kanban cards to a more efficient pull system in its Turin plant, which produces automotive connectors. The company’s challenge was managing very high kanban volumes, reducing warehouse stock, and lowering the time and errors caused by a complex hard-copy system.

KanbanBOX provided an electronic kanban solution that digitized production and handling signals, centralized order management, and improved visibility across the production flow. Aptiv reported a warehouse value reduction from about 3 million euros to around 700,000 euros, a drop in process-management resources from nine to six, faster and smoother operations, and easier implementation in just three months; KanbanBOX is now also being extended with RFID to further automate the flow and eliminate human error.
