Case Study: Saeco achieves lean, error-free production scheduling with KanbanBOX

A KanbanBOX Case Study

Preview of the Saeco Case Study

Saeco schedules 120 machines a day with KanbanBOX and cuts line stock with Heijunka

Saeco Professional, a manufacturer of sophisticated Italian espresso machines, faced a challenge in scheduling and supplying its complex assembly lines for its Office Coffee Service (OCS) range. The process involved a wide variety of components and machine variants, making it difficult to manage material flow and avoid errors. To solve this, they implemented the KanbanBOX system for electronic kanban management and production scheduling.

KanbanBOX implemented a customized solution using its Heijunka module for production sequencing and created a sequential Pull process for material delivery. This synchronized warehouse kitting with the assembly line in real-time, based on actual production progress. The solution from KanbanBOX resulted in reduced line stock, improved production quality by eliminating mounting errors, and reduced set-up times, allowing for a wider production mix and plans to add a third assembly line.
