Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), an urban public research university, relies on Blackboard Learn as its central LMS across more than 4,000 courses. After accumulating a large media library and facing the 2014 end-of-life for their Helix Media Server, VCU needed a tightly integrated, easy-to-use video solution that would support faculty and students across diverse departments.

VCU piloted and adopted the Kaltura Video Building Block for Blackboard, giving users single sign-on access to record, upload, manage, edit and publish video directly within Blackboard. Adoption climbed from 200 to 1,500 users in the first year, enabling flipped classrooms, streamlined media management, campus-wide use by instructors and tech staff, and a more engaging, media-rich learning experience.
