University of Sheffield - Customer Case Study

The University of Sheffield, a public research university in South Yorkshire, England, needed a better way to organize and share video that had become scattered across internal and external platforms. The university wanted a single portal for hosting and syndicating content, easier publishing tools, VLE integration, accessibility in China, and a way for staff and students to manage and submit video content using Kaltura.

Kaltura implemented Kaltura MediaSpace as a central video hub and Kaltura Blackboard Building Block for VLE integration, helping the university migrate content, launch pilots, and roll out the service campus-wide. The impact was significant: by early 2020 the system held over 21,000 videos with more than 430,000 plays, and by the end of the year the library exceeded 100,000 videos. Kaltura also supported the university’s shift to online learning during COVID-19, with major growth in video use and student-generated assignments.
