Purdue Fort Wayne - Customer Case Study

Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) serves more than 12,000 students across 200+ programs and is seeing rapid growth in online courses (17% during the regular year, 30% in summer). The university’s Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT) had previously offered streaming media but faced usability, format and device-access problems that limited faculty adoption, prompting a search for a user-friendly, Blackboard-integrated solution.

IPFW selected and customized Kaltura’s open-source video platform to integrate seamlessly with Blackboard, enabling faculty to create, edit, upload and embed videos from any device (including newly issued iPads). Adoption quickly scaled—media assets grew from 500 GB to 3 TB—and instructors now use regular video lessons, playlists and in-course feedback to increase engagement, deliver virtual site visits, and prepare to expand student-created video assignments.
