Case Study: Watch Brasil achieves 3 million paid subscribers in under a year with Kaltura

A Kaltura Case Study

Preview of the Watch Brasil Case Study

How Watch Brazil wanted to change the Brazilian streaming market

Watch is a Brazilian streaming and content hub launched in 2019 that offers over 11,000 hours of content from global and local brands (NBC, Universal, Warner Bros., Paramount+, Comedy Central, and others) as an ISP add-on with no device lock-in. After a 2020 regulatory change opened the market, Watch aimed to scale nationwide in a highly fragmented market (214 million people, ~15,000 ISPs) but lacked the streaming infrastructure and technical expertise to move fast.

Already a 2018 partner, Kaltura (with AWS) provided a cloud-based end-to-end video platform—metadata processing, transcoding, CMS, CDN, analytics, player, Multi-DRM and linear TV support—enabling Watch to launch robust streaming services quickly. The result: paid subscribers jumped from a few thousand to over 3 million in under a year, revenue grew tenfold, and Watch established itself as a trusted, widely adopted local streaming alternative.
