Case Study: University of Padua achieves a university-wide culture of video and 100% faculty adoption with Kaltura’s Video Cloud for Education

A Kaltura Case Study

Preview of the University of Padua Case Study

How University of Padua built a university-wide video culture for over 65,000 students across 8 schools, leveraging Kaltura’s Video Cloud for Education

The University of Padua, founded in 1222 and home to alumni such as Niccolò Copernico, partnered with Kaltura in 2017 to unify scattered faculty and student video content and enable a more student-centered learning model. Prior to the partnership, video creation and hosting were fragmented across departments and tools, making resources hard to find and share; the university’s Office of Digital Learning, led by Dario Da Re, identified the need for a centralized, LMS-integrated solution.

Padua adopted Kaltura’s Video Cloud of Education and Kaltura MediaSpace, integrated with Moodle, with initial training for LMS administrators and broader faculty training reinforced during Digital Learning Week. The result: 100% faculty adoption, explosive growth from 15K videos in 2019 to 300K in 2021, 70,000 unique viewers across 1,200 channels, and a platform that supported a rapid, campus-wide shift to 100% remote teaching during COVID.
