A Kaltura Case Study
Gwinnett Online Campus (GOC) is a full-time, grades 4–12 virtual school built on the Desire2Learn LMS that needed a reliable, integrated video solution to make instruction more engaging, reduce playback problems, and support a richer virtual campus experience. Teachers and students were frustrated by broken links and inconsistent video playback, and GOC wanted a way to centralize video creation, delivery, assessment, and live learning labs.
GOC implemented Kaltura’s video platform in January 2013, fully integrating video creation, storage, captions, analytics, and live-recorded learning labs into the LMS. The change eliminated playback issues, enabled teacher announcements, student video submissions, personalized feedback, and searchable course media, and correlated with improved outcomes—e.g., 5th grade writing: 78% met/22% exceeded; 8th grade writing: GOC 81% met/15% exceeded (state 74% met/6% exceeded)—while boosting teacher and student satisfaction and digital skills.
