BCNET The Power of Working Together (Even While Social Distancing)

BCNET, the consortium serving higher education institutions across British Columbia, needed a more robust and transparent video platform that could work across multiple learning management systems and comply with strict provincial privacy laws. The organization wanted instructors to track video usage, ensure students accessed the right content, and support a wide range of teaching and learning use cases. BCNET turned to Kaltura and its LMS integrations, along with Kaltura Capture and related video tools, to meet these needs.

Kaltura implemented a flexible video solution that supported D2L, Moodle, Canvas, and Blackboard Learn, offered both cloud and on-premise deployment options, and enabled video portals, quizzes, livestreaming, and easy content migration for libraries and internal portals. The impact was significant: video became mission-critical when learning moved online, and Kaltura is now used by the vast majority of BCNET faculty and classes. Usage surged across the consortium, with 20 member institutions onboarded, 162,000 FTE represented, and 170 TB of content managed across members.
