Qingdao New Qianwan Terminal (QQCTN) - Customer Case Study

Qingdao New Qianwan Terminal (QQCTN), operated by the Port of Qingdao in China, set out to automate its terminal operations and improve efficiency, safety, and throughput as part of a multi-phase expansion. To support this transformation, QQCTN partnered with Kaleris, using the Navis N4 terminal operating system (TOS) to provide the software backbone for its automated terminal complex.

Kaleris helped QQCTN automate its terminal in record time, integrating N4 with equipment control systems and the terminal’s internal management systems. The results have been strong: QQCTN has completed more than 1,100 vessel calls with 100% on-schedule performance, reduced labor costs by 70%, increased productivity by 30%, and achieved an average of 33 container moves per hour, with peaks above 42 moves per hour. The terminal also reported a world record of 43.23 container moves per hour on a single vessel, along with a 13-minute truck turnaround time.
