Long Beach Container Terminal Chooses N4 As The Brains Of Its Fully Automated Terminal Operations

Long Beach Container Terminal (LBCT) is the first fully automated container terminal in the United States, operating a large, environmentally focused port facility with complex yard, rail, and vessel movements to coordinate. To manage these demanding operations, LBCT chose Kaleris’s Navis N4 terminal operating system as the core platform for its automated terminal operations.

Kaleris implemented Navis N4 as the “brains” of LBCT’s automation, controlling when containers move, which equipment moves them, and where they are placed. The solution helped LBCT run a fully remote, electric, zero-emission terminal and support efficient handling of the world’s largest mega-vessels, though the case study does not provide specific quantitative performance metrics.
