Kaleris Solutions Drive Supply Chain Efficiencies for Daimler Trucks

Daimler Trucks North America faced chaotic yard operations at large manufacturing sites (for example, 550 trailers and 250 daily arrivals/departures at its Saltillo plant) where three staff spent 70 hours a week on manual yard checks, leading to obsolete data, inbound materials shortages, and inefficient trailer moves. After evaluating options, Daimler Trucks North America selected Kaleris’ cloud-based Yard Management System (YMS) with its patented RTLS using passive RFID and GPS to gain real-time yard visibility.

Kaleris deployed RFID tags, fixed and mobile readers, and its Advanced YMS to automate check-in, trailer spotting, and move requests, replacing radioed/written instructions and manual reporting. The Kaleris solution delivered measurable impact: 99% trailer yard accuracy, a 50% reduction in trailer move time, a 50% cut in carrier detention fees (and a 50% reduction in yard drivers across the network), eliminated daily manual yard checks, and has since been rolled out across Daimler Trucks’ U.S. and Mexico plants.
