Dp World London Gateway Changes UK's Supply Chain With Semi-Automated Operations

DP World London Gateway, a major UK port operator, needed a highly efficient way to support its new semi-automated container terminal and handle rapidly growing volumes. The company wanted its equipment and terminal operations software to be fully integrated so it could operate as efficiently as possible; Kaleris, through the Kalmar and Navis solution stack, was selected for its automation experience and integration capabilities.

Kaleris implemented an operational backbone combining Kalmar automated stacking cranes (ASCs), shuttle carriers, and reachstackers with Navis N4 terminal operating system (TOS). The integrated solution enabled semi-automated operations at London Gateway, with the system expanded by June 2014 to 20 ASC modules, 28 shuttle carriers, and two reachstackers, helping the port support capacity of 3.5 million TEU annually and contribute an estimated £3.2 billion to the UK GDP.
