A Kaleido Case Study

Preview of the Central Banks of Egypt and Morocco Case Study

Central Banks of Egypt and Morocco enable multi-CBDC settlement with Kaleido across 2 central banks

The Central Banks of Egypt and Morocco, in collaboration with the World Bank, faced the challenge of creating a cross-border settlement ledger for multi-CBDC transactions. They needed a solution capable of managing CBDC liquidity across jurisdictions, onboarding financial intermediaries, performing automated KYC checks, and demonstrating interoperability with externally developed smart contracts.

Kaleido implemented a full-stack solution using its Digital Assets, Web3 Middleware, and Chain Infrastructure product lines to build the settlement ledger. The Kaleido platform enabled the central banks to manage liquidity through an Automated Market Maker contract, seamlessly integrate external smart contracts to prove interoperability, and automate KYC and compliance checks for registered intermediaries, successfully demonstrating efficient cross-border CBDC settlement.
