Legendary Pictures’ Applied Analytics division, part of Legendary’s entertainment and media organization, needed a more precise way to understand how audiences responded to its productions. Working with Kairos, it sought to move beyond traditional research methods to determine which content would perform best in marketing, which demographics were most likely to share trailers and ads, and how well films connected with both mainstream viewers and core fandom audiences.

Kairos implemented Emotion Recognition to measure audience reactions in real time during preview screenings, capturing emotional data every quarter second throughout the film. The system recorded more than 450,000 emotional measurements per minute and processed around 100 million facial measurements in total, giving Legendary actionable insights to shape advertising and marketing strategies and better predict audience engagement and sharing behavior.
