New York Methodist Hospital Improving Isolation Procedure

New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn began using the KaiNexus software platform to capture and act on frontline improvement ideas. The Emergency Department faced safety and communication challenges — for example, patients were sometimes placed in isolation without nurses being notified (compromising proper protective procedures), and staff reported malfunctioning overhead PA coverage — creating a need for a reliable way to document and standardize fixes.

By using KaiNexus to log, track and standardize solutions (such as formalizing isolation procedures and fixing PA-system gaps), New York Methodist Hospital identified about 150 improvement opportunities that improved service quality, boosted staff and patient satisfaction, increased safety, and saved more than 5,000 hours of time. KaiNexus enabled the hospital to convert frontline observations into implemented standard work with measurable impact.
