The Association of London Transport Officers (ALTO) is a network of transport officers from the 32 London boroughs and the Corporation of London that seeks closer collaboration to drive efficiencies across logistics, fleet and procurement. Facing the challenge of reducing costs on commercial and specialist vehicle acquisition, ALTO launched the London Commercial Fleet Project and chose Kahootz cloud collaboration software to support a collaborative procurement approach aimed at delivering roughly 10% savings.

Using Kahootz, ALTO built the Fleetcol portal to let boroughs share and register future vehicle requirements, pool framework contracts and aggregate buying into lots, making multi-authority coordination straightforward. The Kahootz-powered solution achieved the predicted ~10% additional discount and — against a London annual vehicle spend of over £100m for some 6,000 vehicles — the portal can deliver savings worth tens of millions of pounds, while being quick to set up and cost-effective to run.
