Case Study: Emory University achieves deeper literature discussions and better knowledge retention with Kahoot!

A Kahoot! Case Study

Preview of the Emory University Case Study

Word cloud and slides help a university lecturer initiate robust literature discussions

Bailey Betik, a graduate instructor at Emory University in Atlanta, needed a way to cover a fast‑paced British literature survey while keeping students engaged and retaining broad historical and literary content. To reduce pressure, boost participation, and move beyond lecture‑only review, she brought in Kahoot! and its game‑based learning tools.

Betik used Kahoot!’s classic multiple‑choice quizzes, slide checkpoints and the Premium word cloud feature to turn quick drills into nuanced discussions, prep students for essay exams, and jumpstart conversation about historical context. Kahoot! also provided quantifiable game reports (percentages correct) that helped instructors tailor reviews; typical sessions got 30–40 students interacting, increased retention and fostered a stronger classroom community.
