A Kahoot! Case Study
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, working with Kahoot!, needed a better way to engage medical students and residents while improving formative assessment, knowledge retention, and the ability to apply learning in practice. Dr. Chris Jackson used Kahoot! in ambulatory meetings, lectures, and virtual sessions to add self-assessment checkpoints that traditional lectures lacked.
Kahoot! solved this by supporting pre- and post-session challenges, live kahoots, multi-select questions, slides, and low-stakes formative quizzes to focus discussion and reinforce key concepts. According to the case study, Kahoot! helped students better self-assess their knowledge, eased learning anxiety, improved knowledge retention, and made sessions more interactive and fun, though no numeric impact was provided.
