How to make the most out of Kahoot! in college

John Kerrigan, Math Professor at Rutgers University, needed a way to engage undergraduate math students and make dry or difficult topics more interactive for midterm review in his Active Learning Classroom. He turned to Kahoot!’s game-based learning platform, using features like image uploads, embedded music and Team Mode to introduce friendly competition and group collaboration.

Kahoot!’s short, timed quizzes and collaborative Team Mode helped increase student participation, spark peer discussion, and refine mathematical argumentation as students debated and justified answers. By using Kahoot!, Kerrigan brought linear algebra content to life, improved review effectiveness for exams, and generated noticeably higher engagement and collaboration in his classes.
