Frayer a Friend+Kahoot!: a new take on the Frayer model to connect students

An English teacher at a school sought to find a new way to help students enjoy learning and connect with their classmates in a collaborative atmosphere. To address this, she used the Kahoot! platform to gamify a lesson frame known as the Frayer a Friend model.

The solution involved combining the Kahoot! platform with the Frayer a Friend protocol. Students interviewed peers and then transformed their collected information into a custom Kahoot! quiz, complete with pictures. This use of Kahoot! resulted in high student engagement, with every student observed to be on task and interacting positively. The activity successfully taught students valuable interviewing and question-forming skills while building a stronger, more connected classroom community.
