Faster, smarter, Kahoot!’er! Gamifying a PE class

The American International School of Guangzhou wanted to better integrate theory and practice in PE while keeping students active and engaged and quickly assessing prior knowledge. PE and Health teacher Luke Russell introduced Kahoot! quizzes to bring formative assessment and competitive, dynamic learning into the gym.

Russell used Kahoot! to run team-based, active quizzes—students ran to shared laptops to answer questions, tagged teammates, and used the games as lesson starters and knowledge checks. Kahoot!'s quick join time and reliable performance enabled seamless use in class, producing a noticeable rise in student engagement and faster, more effective formative assessment during PE lessons.
