Fairtrade helps employees master policies through play and teamwork

Fairtrade, a nonprofit operating across Australia and New Zealand, needed a better way to keep staff up to date with critical policies for operations, compliance and funder reporting. Previously policy updates were emailed with occasional sign-offs and little visibility into whether content was actually mastered. To address this, Fairtrade turned to Kahoot! (using Kahoot! for business features) to make policy learning interactive and trackable.

Kahoot! was implemented as a monthly, game-based review during all-staff meetings—6–10 questions per policy, often played in 2–3 person team mode, with photos, humor and video-conferencing for remote staff. The result: measurable increases in policy knowledge (notably HR policies), higher engagement as training became a fun team activity, and useful visual game reports from Kahoot! that Fairtrade can share with funders and regulators to demonstrate training progress.
