Ace virtual lessons with student-paced Kahoot! challenges

Beekmantown Central School District teacher Ashley Kollar needed a way to extend learning into a virtual setting and reach students who only had a single device at home. She turned to Kahoot! and its student-paced challenges — sometimes combined with Google Hangouts Meet — to deliver remote vocabulary and math practice that students can complete anytime and at their own pace.

Kahoot!’s student-paced challenges let Kollar assign deadlines, disable timers to focus on accuracy, and let students replay to improve scores, which increased engagement and out-of-class practice. Using Kahoot!’s searchable library and (when needed) Premium question types, the district saved teacher prep time, enabled whole-class synchronous plays via Hangouts Meet despite device limits, and produced clear formative-assessment results as students repeatedly attempted and improved their scores.
