A blind Kahoot!’ing Odyssey the story of a Classics teacher

Royal Grammar School High Wycombe needed a way to make challenging subjects — Latin, Ancient Greek and Ancient History — more engaging and to get fast, actionable feedback on pupil progress. Classics teacher Deborah Dicks adopted Kahoot!'s game-based learning platform (quizzes, Jumble and "blind Kahoot!" formats) to gamify lessons, assess vocabulary and grammar, and introduce new topics in a low-pressure, motivating way.

Kahoot! delivered immediate formative data and boosted participation and confidence — even among shy pupils — by turning assessment into a fun, competitive activity. Students now create their own quizzes, pupils voted Kahoot! their favourite tool in a class survey, and teachers use the platform as a classroom reward and professional-development demo, demonstrating clear gains in engagement and more targeted teaching from instant feedback.
