A JW Player Case Study
SNY, an Emmy Award–winning regional sports network covering the New York market and national Mets/Jets programming, faced the challenge of expanding reach, increasing video production and viewer engagement, and boosting ad revenue—especially during the pandemic when live games were limited. To support a video-first strategy, SNY selected JW Player (using JW Player’s video player, streaming and analytics services) as their technology partner to reliably deliver and monetize more video content.
Working with JW Player, SNY launched a portfolio of original franchises, focused distribution on their owned site, and used JW Player’s playlists, live capabilities and minute-by-minute analytics to optimize content (for example cutting intros to under three seconds). Since transitioning to JW Player in July 2020, SNY reports an 81% increase in average daily video views, an 84% increase in average daily video watch time, and a 108% increase in video views since 2020, along with higher engagement, time-on-site and ad revenue.
