EuroSport, Discovery’s leading sports brand and the new home of the Olympics in Europe, needed to deliver a broadcast‑quality digital video experience for the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018—streaming every minute live across multiple markets while integrating with third‑party monetization and analytics partners under tight timelines. To meet those requirements EuroSport selected JW Player, using JW Player’s platform and lightweight HTML5 player with adaptive streaming.
JW Player provided a clean, customizable player and platform that acted as the integration “glue” with partners such as Adobe, Freewheel, Conviva and Sentry, enabling rapid implementation and flawless playback. The deployment let EuroSport stream 4,000 hours of coverage (including 900 hours live) across 48 markets in 21 languages with zero downtime, and EuroSport now plans to use JW Player for future major sporting events.
