Apartment Therapy Media, owner of lifestyle sites including Apartment Therapy and Kitchn and reaching about 5.3 million people, struggled to drive video consumption from text-only article pages. They had been using a single “video of the day” across articles regardless of relevance and lacked the editorial capacity to hand-curate videos for each page, so they needed an easy, automated way to surface contextually relevant video. JW Player was engaged to address this challenge.
JW Player implemented its Article Matching solution to scan article titles and descriptions and automatically insert the most relevant video from the publishers’ libraries in milliseconds. In the three months after deployment, JW Player’s Article Matching drove a 36% increase in video plays, a 19% increase in completion rates, and a 27% rise in plays reaching the 10‑second mark, substantially improving video engagement on Apartment Therapy Media’s sites.
