Disrupting The Food We Eat With Groundswell Efforts

Planetarians, founded by Aleh Manchuliantsau, is a food company upcycling sunflower oilcake into high-protein chips. The team struggled to get press attention, facing repeated rejection from journalists despite sending hundreds of pitches and even trying a PR agency, so they turned to JustReachOut for DIY PR support and targeted media outreach.

With JustReachOut’s outreach tools and coaching, Planetarians tested pitch angles and subject lines, learned to think like journalists, and focused first on local Minnesota reporters with a community-driven angle tied to the University of Minnesota and #Minnesotaproud. This groundswell approach helped them land coverage on ABC News, gain an invitation from The New York Times to participate in an employee wellness fair, and later attract attention from niche food and ingredient publications such as Treehugger, Mindbodygreen, Food Navigator, and Sustainable Brands.
