UW Medicine, a Seattle-based academic health system, needed a single Epic Enterprise identifier as it brought Northwest Hospital onto its Epic registration system and prepared to share data across Accountable Care Networks. To prevent duplicate patient records in the Epic master patient index (MPI) and improve matching accuracy, UW Medicine engaged Just Associates and its IDManage® MPI support service to perform a comprehensive MPI cleanup and advise on best-practice matching settings.

Just Associates leveraged internal and third‑party data, referential matching, and supplemental research to review roughly 31,100 possible duplicate pairs, confirming and resolving about 23,400 pairs in Epic for a 75% prove rate (with prior Just Associates engagements achieving nearly 90% on larger projects). Just Associates also provided demographic update files, matching recommendations, actionable BI, and ongoing IDManage support to reduce manual staff effort, improve MPI integrity, and continuously address duplicates—while noting 25% of cases required more data or research due to incomplete demographic elements.
