Valdosta State University Meets Demand for Digital Learning with Improved Wi-Fi Experience

Valdosta State University, a regional public university of about 12,500 students, needed to scale its campus network as the number of mobile devices per user exploded and a new 140,000 sq ft Health Sciences and Business Administration building required high‑performance, secure wired and wireless connectivity. The IT team faced rising demand for reliable, campus‑wide Wi‑Fi and a 10GbE infrastructure for mission‑critical teaching and healthcare technology.

VSU upgraded its Juniper Networks deployment—adding WLA532 access points, WLC2800 controllers, SmartPass Connect, EX4500/EX3300 switches, SRX gateways, MX edge routers, and Junos management—to boost capacity, simplify operations, and secure access. The result was noticeably improved Wi‑Fi performance and user experience, a 10GbE network for the new building, simplified management through a consistent Junos platform and Virtual Chassis, and plans to expand the Juniper solution campus‑wide.
