StayFriends Boosts Network Functionality and Speed

StayFriends, a social network with more than 13 million members, needed to eliminate downtime and speed up millisecond‑level data exchanges between its Nuremberg and newly added Berlin site. Its aging fleet of 100 Mbps and 1 GbE switches—more than 70 devices—made administration complex, consumed excess power and space, and couldn’t reliably support fast, redundant replication across the two data centers.

StayFriends deployed Juniper EX Series switches (EX4500 and EX4200) with Virtual Chassis technology, leased two independently routed lines, and set the sites to active/active. The result was a higher‑performing, easier‑to‑manage network (four virtual devices instead of 70+), optimized transfer speeds, true redundancy across locations, and reduced power and space requirements.
