A Juniper Networks Case Study
Staminus, a DDoS mitigation specialist founded in 1998, needed a scalable, high-performance infrastructure to protect customers from ever-larger attacks—routinely hundreds of gigabits and growing toward terabit-scale. With mitigation centers in Los Angeles, New York, and Amsterdam, the company sought dense 10/100GbE data-center switching and powerful routers to support a 200 Gbps WAN (with a near-term move to terabit speeds) while keeping deployment and operations simple.
Staminus implemented Juniper solutions—MX480 routers to interconnect sites, QFX3500 switches as the high-performance forwarding plane, and EX4200/EX3200 switches for aggregation—leveraging Junos OS, SLAX automation, Virtual Chassis, and MPLS L3VPN for automated redundancy. The result is a terabit-ready, easy-to-operate backbone that delivers 99.99% uptime, mitigates thousands of attacks weekly, reduces operational overhead, and enables cost savings passed on to customers.
