St. Catherine University Makes Big Advances in Digital Learning with a Unified Network

St. Catherine University (St. Kate’s), a 5,200‑student liberal arts university in Minneapolis–St. Paul and the largest college for women in the U.S., needed to replace an aging network to support modern digital learning. Rising student expectations for seamless, high‑density Wi‑Fi, streaming media, and multiple devices per student (up to 60 devices in some classrooms) made wireless performance and campus‑wide mobility the tipping point for a network overhaul.

The university deployed a unified Juniper wired and wireless solution — WLA532/WLA522 access points, WLC2800 controller, EX4550/EX4200/EX3300 switches, plus Junos Space Service Now and Network Director — with implementation support from Computex. The upgrade delivered reliable high‑density Wi‑Fi, enabled new digital learning tools (including electronic health records and remote/recorded classes), increased student and faculty satisfaction, and simplified network management and help‑desk support.
