Springfield Public Schools Pave the Way for Digital Learning with High-Performance Network

Springfield Public Schools (SPS), the largest fully accredited district in Missouri serving more than 24,000 students, faced scattered, unreliable wireless connectivity and an aging wired infrastructure that limited its move to modern, device-driven learning. After a $156 million facilities investment and voter-approved funding, the district needed to boost wired capacity and provide reliable Wi‑Fi in every classroom to support digital learning and a growing 1:1 device program.

SPS deployed Juniper networking—EX9208, EX4550 and EX3300 switches, WLC2800 controllers and WLA532 access points, plus Junos Space—to modernize its data center and campus networks. The upgrade delivered high-capacity classroom Wi‑Fi (single APs supporting dozens of devices), simplified unified wired/wireless management, enabled 1:1 computing, rewired 60 buildings over 16 months without daytime disruption, and future-proofed the network for the next 5–7 years.
