A Juniper Networks Case Study
Parklands College, a South African school serving about 1,200 students across three campuses with a long-standing 1:1 Apple device program, was suffering from an ad hoc wireless deployment that caused dropped connections and outages as student device use grew. The ICT team needed a secure, high-throughput, scalable network to support multiple student devices and additional IP services (VoIP, CCTV, biometric access) across separate VLANs while preparing for campus expansion.
Parklands selected an end-to-end Juniper solution implemented by local integrator CCI—EX4200/EX4500 switches, WLC800 controllers, WLA series access points, Virtual Chassis technology and a 10GbE backbone, plus RingMaster and SmartPass for management and guest access—installed over a new fibre and copper infrastructure to 800 points. The deployment delivered ubiquitous, reliable wireless, supported the 1:1 program and multiple services on a single centrally managed network at lower cost, positioning the school as a national leader in educational ICT and ready for further growth.
