A Juniper Networks Case Study
OzarksGo, a subsidiary of Ozarks Electric, set out to solve a common rural problem: large parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma lacked reliable high‑speed broadband, leaving towns like Stillwell without modern Internet access. The nonprofit utility aimed to bring affordable, robust fiber to homes and businesses to close the digital divide and support education, healthcare, and local economic growth.
To do that, OzarksGo built an integrated packet‑optical network using Juniper MX204 and MX480 routers and QFX5110 switches, eliminating separate DWDM and IP/MPLS silos to reduce equipment cost and complexity and speed provisioning. The result: affordable gigabit service (1 Gbps plans under $80), 4,000 customers in the first year, faster service agility, lower capital costs, simplified operations, and expanded coverage into previously unserved communities.
