A Juniper Networks Case Study
The National Credit Union Federation of Korea (CU) is a nonprofit cooperative financial institution managing about US$60 billion through 906 credit unions and 1,656 branches. CU faced an aging data-center network (deployed in 2007) that was failing, difficult to support, and limited to 1 Gbps—unable to keep pace with growing online transactions or support next‑generation IT systems.
CU replaced the legacy gear with Juniper MX960/MX480 routers, EX Series switches (EX8200/4300/4600/3300/2200) and SRX650 security gateways after a successful proof‑of‑concept and a coordinated "big bang" rollout. The upgrade delivered a 10x jump in capacity (now supporting 10 Gbps), greatly improved stability and reliability for e‑banking and data‑center services, reduced ongoing network management effort, and laid the foundation for virtualization, SDN, IP telephony and compliance-driven network segmentation.
