A Juniper Networks Case Study
James Cook University (JCU) is a leading tropical research and education institution with about 22,000 students and nearly 5,000 staff across three campuses, renowned for marine and biodiversity research. Facing a digital-transformation imperative, JCU needed a scalable, reliable and energy-efficient network to support researchers moving multi‑terabyte datasets, provide students with always-on access to digital learning, and meet strict sustainability goals.
JCU deployed Juniper QFX5100 and EX4300 switches with the Junos Space management platform to create a consistent, automated, multicloud-ready network. The upgrade delivered faster, more reliable Wi‑Fi, seamless access to critical research applications, enabled global collaboration, gave students access to 49,000+ lecture recordings, simplified operations so ICT staff can focus on innovation, and reduced power and cooling demands to align with the university’s sustainability objectives.
