PEER 1 Hosting, a provider of colocation, dedicated, and managed hosting, faced repeated customer-impacting downtime and operational complexity from sharing a mixed-technology data center. The company needed greater control of its network, better protection against DDoS attacks, and improved power efficiency as it planned a new state-of-the-art POD-based data center in the U.K.

Working with Calyx Managed Services, PEER 1 deployed Juniper solutions—including EX Series switches with Virtual Chassis, MX Series routers, SSG gateways, and the Junos OS—managed through an in-house NOC and supported by an energy-efficient cooling design. The new infrastructure simplified operations, cut data center downtime by 33%, reduced the chance of DDoS impact by about 90%, and helped achieve a PUE of 1.1.
